"You only set your alarm on vacation."

Meaghan reminded me of this the other day.

The absurdity of the statement made me chuckle.  It's really strange, I know, but she is totally right.

(Unless you count the crazy early time we need to catch a flight to our destination.)

My vacations almost always mean there are images that must be captured.  It also means I cannot waste any chance of amazing morning light.

The reality is sleeping in is not an option while on vacation.  That is, of course, unless I can sleep knowing that I may be missing out on a special sunrise.

It's not uncommon to wake up around 4:30-5:00am each morning of vacation to allow enough time to find a spot and then wait for the sun with fingers crossed.

The more extraordinary moments I capture during sunrise, the easier it gets to peel myself out of bed the next time.

These are a few of my favorite moments where I said cheers to my early alarm clock.

The morning in Mexico seemed bleak until the clouds began to part.

VOW holds a special place in my heart.  I could barely get myself to get this picture, but I'm surely glad I did.

I wasn't exactly sure where to go, but as hints of where the sun would rise, I found just the right place.
The fog was lifting on this cool autumn morning when the sun came.
I sat on a cliff in Cabo. I'm scared of heights, but this was so worth it.
It was a lonely walk until I found this, sitting all by itself.

It was quite remarkable that such a genuine scene could exist and I was right there to capture it.

This pond looks totally different now, so I'm glad I was here this morning.
It was cold and it was early. But it was a very warm moment.
This morning was a pretty magical one. The color popped and the sun said hello.
The moon was still front and center.

Waking up to an alarm isn't nearly as painful as it used to be.  At least it's a nice ringtone instead of that horrible beeping.
