Get your snorkel gear on.  This is going to be fun.

You've seen some land photographs of Bora Bora, but now it's time to explore beneath the surface.

The calm, inviting water urges you to experience every inch of this paradise.  I did just that--spending every minute I could exploring Bora Bora (French Polynesia.)  We swam with a variety of colorful tropical fish, had somewhat rare manta ray sightings, and had some close encounters with sharks.

There are even more pictures coming so stay tuned for more photos of paradise.

This captures the surreal scene of ultra calm waters, vivid fish surrounding me, Mt. Otemanu towering over us, and a red sailboat to serve as the exclamation mark.

Going beneath the surface causes certain feelings of awe.

The sun subsides and creates some amazing colors and light. My (non-waterproof) camera was an inch from the surface. Totally worth the risk.

This was an eerie scene, but totally not what you think it was.

Talk about underwater traffic! This water was only waist-high and yet there was so much happening! Fish, sharks, rays, and human beings.

While most of the rays resided with the sharks, an occasional loner would pass by. It was terribly difficult to frame the shot this way so I had to do it in post processing.

This is a Bullethead Parrotfish, probably the most colorful species we saw.

If you haven't done so already, head up to dry land and check out more photos of Bora Bora.
