A pretty unique super moon was coming soon.
If you don’t know what a “super moon” is, it basically means that the moon is a tad bit closer to Earth, so it appears both larger and brighter. For the record, it’s quite subtle, but everyone loves to make a big fuss about it.
As someone who enjoys staring at the moon and the stars, I always get ready for it if weather cooperates.
And if you’re really lucky, you’ll see two, maybe three consecutive nights of really impressive moon rises.
Over the course of two nights, I had pretty good conditions and found some pretty interesting spots to compose some super moon photos.
Here are a few of my favorites.
I ripped my pants while composing this shot. I finally found a place where I could see a reflection of the moon in the water along with an interesting foreground.
I like how the moon seems to roll down the hill.
This is a steel beam laying on the ground that created a great path to the moon. Notice the plane flying over.
I wanted to create a minimalist image of the moon and its reflection.
I wanted to capture the warm color of the moon just as it comes up over the horizon. The birds helped make it even more interesting.
