Waking up in the pitch dark has been a part of my life for a very long time, ever since I delivered newspapers at 4am with my mom growing up. Things are mostly calm, the dark seems strangely unscary, and the daylight is about to introduce itself.
Today, my thoughts are as clear as my plan: I must position myself perfectly just in case something incredible happens.
Even if it is not incredible, it is still always worth the attempt. Here are some of my favorite attempts.
The fresh snow made me eager to bundle up to see what was out there in South Dakota.
I sat in the soft sand as the tide began to rise with the sun in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
I drove around to notice the sun would pose behind the winding road in western South Dakota.
Mexico sunrises are some of the absolute best--hands down.
The interweaving locks of land with the water made it a haven for birds of all kinds in North Dakota.
