I'm obsessed with piers.

Many of my fellow photographers probably feel the same.

  1. Piers are often symmetrical and contain architectural details.
  2. They give a unique contrast of something man-made plunked in pure nature and it's quite compelling.
  3. Their construction serves as a runway for the eyes to slowly move their way to the beautiful horizon.
  4. Piers of all sizes provide a sense of being able to step into the picture.
  5. Moving water interacting with a stationary object can make for interesting imagery.

Maybe these favorites will help me explain our fasciation with piers.
