Many of my artworks undergo dozens of revisions and renditions. You might be surprised to know that sometimes artworks will take years before I let them see the light of day. Some never make it. That's just how art goes.
So I decided to pull back the curtain to show you what an artwork looks like from beginning (the first photograph shot in the field) to what it ends up to be once I bake it in my studio.
For simplicity, I decided to show you 6 main stages of this artwork, even though it has more than 20.
The original shot was captured near Salt Lake City, Utah.
A bit of experimentation led me to blur the image.
I couldn't help but think that fall foliage would warm up the color palette, so I used another image and infused the color to the original.
I added even more leaves, detail, and foliage to the backdrop and removed the blue.
I brought the detail back in the trees so you could reach out and touch them.
Finally, I added contrast to anchor the image down and bring the trees out more into the foreground, creating more depth in the image.
And bam, there it is.
