Less

is

more.

It is certainly a cliche, but it is true in most things, especially photography.

The term for this is called "minimalism".  Cutting out as much as possible.

When I created my first images early in my career, I wanted to see how much stuff I could stuff into the frame.

Now, the opposite seems to be true.

Photography is actually the art of reduction.  How many distractions can be eliminated so that the subject is at its highest impact?

Sometimes, I go to the extremes.

When an opportunity arises to elminate almost everything, I get pretty excited to see the result.

Here are ten of my absolute favorite minimalist artworks.
