I have a confession.
When it comes to winter, I get embarassingly lazy with my photography---I don't venture out nearly as much as I should with my camera. Often the light is flat, there's no definition in the scene, and my fingers freeze while attempting to operate my camera.
The reset of my mindset commenced when COVID-19 came to be a part of our lives.
With next to no travel, I had to get out of the house and create some art. I didn't care what part of me would freeze--I just had to push the button.
I quickly rediscovered the amazing qualities of winter.
Many people move away from winter in favor of year-long warmth, but this recent obsession with winter imagery made me thankful that I'm right here in the snow.
Here are some of my recent frost-infused wintery scenes. I hope you enjoy.
I don't ever remember seeing the frost this thick, and wanted to capture its glistening qualities.
The stream was just starting to freeze, creating amazing patterns in the ice.
I drove down the road and looked quickly to my right to discover this scene that looked like a painting.
I heard the loud geese flying over me, and while the sun blinded me, I just had to hope that they'd fly over the scene, and they did, and I smiled with excitement.
This magical morning had amazing haze and frost with this horse. It was quite a fantasy-like and surreal set of circumstances.
These ducks slowly moved down the stream while the sun created a unique speckle of fading autumn color in the distance.
I am always shocked how otherwise normal scenes are completely transformed with a thick blanket of frost. Hundreds of birds grouped together and contrasted so well with these unique winter conditions.
