I'm never taking pictures of flowers.
I said that ten years ago when I first started hitting art shows.
As time flowed by, swimming in the deep vast sea of flower images out there that barraged me, I started taking notice. It seemed to me that sometimes all floral images look the same.
Sometimes the allure of a photographic challenge overcomes me.
Can I make a "different" flower artwork?
During a cold winter day, I stared at a bouqet of flowers sitting at my table. The sun was spraying the flowers with amazing light.
Of course, I had to take out my camera. Just to see if something was there. I had a lot of other things to do.
I've learned you must cherish the momentary creative spell that takes over you.
I started clicking away and soon my memory card ran out of space. I looked at the clock and I'd been shooting for more than two hours.
I know I'm "in the creative zone" when time evaporates. I used my blinds to redirect and change the light that would smother the flowers. I couldn't believe how a simple shift in angle could change the look of the flowers so much.
I knew know now this won't be my last flower shoot.
I suppose flowers will become yet another side obsession.
