Where is the best place for fall colors?
I obsessed for weeks about where to explore in the northeast to catch some amazing fall colors, and the next thing I knew I found myself in New Hampshire.
It was a brilliant choice if I do say so myself.
When it came to deciding between Vermont and New Hampshire, the more varied elevations and changes of landscapes is what made the decision more clear for me. Most would agree that Vermont has a pretty solid foothold when it comes to autumn bragging rights, branding itself as the best state in the U.S. to see fall colors. However, the more I looked around online, the more I felt myself gravitating toward New Hampshire. I'll be anxious to see Vermont in the future.
For now, let me take you on a journey through the beautiful full colors of New Hampshire and the famous Kancamagus Highway.

We stayed on Hermit Lake and I woke up to a beautiful foggy autumn landscape as I trekked along the lakeshore.
We stopped at various random trails along the Kancamagus Highway to take in the beautiful fall colors.
Echo Lake certainly lured me in to see the rugged terrain and the amazing fall foliage.
I discovered a stream along the Sabbaday Falls trailhead. I was so immersed in this scene that I didn't even make it to the falls.
Passing rain covered the floating autumn leaves and I wanted to capture the tiny water droplets forming on them.
Around every bend on the Kancamagus highway, a new colorful surprise awaits.
Rain poured off and on when a break in the clouds lit up this atmospheric scene at Echo Lake.
An aerial exploration led me to find this captivating scene from above as the rising sun tickled the tree tops.
I took dozens of photos attempting to capture as many colors as possible in one single shot.
A stop along the way was sudden as the clouds broke just enough to illuminate the colors of the New Hampshire landscape.
A walk along the lake led me to numerous fall color scenes that reminded me of paintings.
