Taggert Lake was my last chance.
One last excruciatingly early morning came and my body could definitely feel it. Today was the day I would depart the great Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. I knew that this was my last morning to capture the beautiful scenery on display.
I stepped outside one last time and while the starlit sky was amazing, it also meant that there was probably no dramatic weather looming in the Tetons which can often make for magical conditions.
I would soon learn that I was wrong.
We pulled up to the trailhead at Taggert Lake and secured our headlamps. Off we went, racing the rising sun to Taggert Lake.
The ambient light slowly shaped the landscape among us, and my excitement grew with every step.
A thin layer of fog smothered the surroundings just right to add a little extra drama. A wildfire in proximity added some smoke.
This concoction made for some amazing conditions to capture the beauty of Taggert Lake.
