Autumn had arrived. The leaves began to slowly fall.
I found myself entrenched on the shoreline of the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. My attention was on capturing the winding water and trees with tremendous fall colors.
The morning light presented all kinds of compositions and it was a calming creative thrill to be here with these ideal conditions.
Of course, I would not be climbing on tree branches this time to get a different vantage point.
I slowly made my way downstream step by careful step. I couldn't help but take a quick glance down at my feet in the water.
That's when another world presented itself to me.
A submerged leaf slowly twisted and turned in the murky water, and the sunlight played tricks on my eye and that's when I found my next obsession.
The light beams and reflections of the blue sky above me dazzled the leaves that would otherwise be forgotten.
These were leaves that reawakened, and they would certainly be remembered.
Here are some of my favorites during this discovery. It became a captivating treasure hunt as I slowly shuffled my feet up the shoreline seeing what was beneath.
