It used to be a window to see and connect with people I missed.
It is now an overbearing machine of pessimism that only gains weight, speed, noise, and dare I say...darkness?
Yes, I'm talking about social media, and more specifically, I'm talking about Facebook.
If we are friends on Facebook, I'm sorry that I've been a ghost lately. I've stayed away from this mess, not really feeling any desire to partake.
Just recently, my wife had a class reunion, and one of our friends, Monique, simply stated to me, "I love your images you post on Facebook, Kyle."
She went on to tell me that she always looked forward to seeing my pictures because it was one of the only positive things left in her Facebook feed. She always appreciated the break it gave her from the rest of the "machine."
At that moment, I felt dejected that I've disappointed her lately. Maybe I've disappointed you by not offering up an alternative in your Facebook stream.
Monique, you've inspired me to avoid running away, but rather to stay and do my best to feed the streams with positive imagery and optimism. Perhaps making a personal promise to you will make this mission permanent.
From here on out, I'm getting back on track to infuse positive imagery in your Facebook feed.
If you'd like it in your stream, let's connect on Facebook.
